COOP GROUP is a retail and wholesale company founded in 1864 and headquartered in Basel, Switzerland[1]. Joos Sutter is the chairman of the board of directors. The company is mainly engaged in various forms of sales as well as wholesale and production. On August 5, 2024, the 2024 Fortune Global 500 list was released, and COOP Group ranked 392nd. Coop Group is a Swiss retail giant and the second largest business group in Switzerland. It is headquartered in Basel and consists of 15 regional cooperatives. It has 1,700 retail outlets across Switzerland. Its main business formats are supermarkets, department stores and Shopping malls are mostly located in the center of big cities. Copp Group is the first consumer cooperative originated in Switzerland, with a history dating back 150 years. It has grown into one of the largest retail and wholesale/production companies in Switzerland, with 2.5 million cooperative members worldwide. As of 2018, the total turnover of Kepu Group was 306.62 billion Swiss francs; the group's net proceeds were 295.65 billion Swiss francs, of which 199.31 billion Swiss francs came from Switzerland and 96.34 billion Swiss francs came from income outside Switzerland. Coop Group started out as a rural consumer cooperative. In addition to supermarkets and department stores, the Group also operates various professional stores such as drugstores, home appliances, furniture decoration, lighting fixtures, and even gas stations and convenience stores.
